Welcome back families!! I hope that everyone has had a fun and relaxing summer!! I've been busy getting Room 9 ready for a fabulous new school year. Check out how things look!!
I can't wait to see everyone on Tuesday, August 29th from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. for Open House. This is a very informal event that will give everyone an opportunity to see the classroom and meet me! Students can find their hook and their seat, see some old friends while maybe making a new friend as well! It helps decrease jitters for the first day of school, which is Wednesday, August 30th.
We have worked SO HARD all year to follow the UMS school rules of being safe, kind, and doing our best. To celebrate the end of a fabulous year, we celebrated with a trip the the Village Scoop. It was delicious!!
We had a wonderful time at the ECHO Science Center this morning! We were able to try hands-on engineering activities, forecast the weather, look at various animals, and even explore with Curious George in the traveling science exhibit! We were so busy having fun, we only took a picture as we were leaving!
We had our school musical titled "Bunnies! Bunnies! Bunnies!" and it was a HUGE success!!! Everyone did a fabulous job and we all had so much fun!! There wasn't much time for pictures, but check us out just before the show! Thank you so Ms. Mutz for putting on a fabulous show!!
We are learning buddies with Mrs. Hill's kindergarten class. Today we got together and we read with each other. Everyone did such an amazing job and had lots of fun! Check out these adorable pictures!!
Today is the 100th day of school and we have had a blast celebrating everything that we've learned so far this year!!! We've had so much fun and we can't wait to see what the last 76 days of the year will bring!
We just finished a wonderful unit on fables!! For the last three weeks, we have focused specifically on the fable of the Gingerbread Man and we've read many various retellings of this story. We've compared and contrasted all of these stories and we ended our unit by making foam gingerbread houses and gingerbread picture frames. Check out all of our hard work!

We had a fun, but chilly, walk to the Burnham Memorial Library last Thursday!! We learned some of the history of the library, we listened to 2 great books, and then everyone had the opportunity to browse through the books! Here are some pictures from our adventure!
Today, October 31st, we had a great day filled with learning and laughs. We had many fun math stations that included graphing, fact families, addition and subtraction review, and a creative monster game. We also read the wonderful story "Spookley the Square Pumpkin" and we compared it to the cartoon version. We had a fabulous day!! I hope that everyone has a wonderful night!!
We've been busy strengthening our fact power by practicing our doubles facts!! We played a super fun game called "Balloon Double".
We have done a fabulous job of following the school rules of being safe, kind, and always doing our best and we filled our Champ Band bin!!! The students decided that they'd like to have a "stuffed animal day" and we've had so much fun!! Here are some pictures of our visitors!
Room 9 is ready for a wonderful new school year!!! I can't wait to see you all at Open House on Tuesday, August 30th from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 31st! I'm so excited to see all of you!! We are going to have a fabulously fun year in second grade!
We have done a FABULOUS job of being safe, kind, and doing our best! We filled our Champ Band bin!! The students of Room 9 wanted a fort day so we "built" forts out of plastic table clothes and we used flashlights to do our work! We had such a fun Friday!
