Getting Ready.....

I've been busy getting our classroom ready for a fabulous new year! I've labeled cubbies and book boxes, the art supplies and pencils are organized, and our book nook is ready for reading! I'm

putting the finishing touches all around so

that our classroom feels like home! We will spend a lot of time together this year so I want everyone to work hard, learn lots of new things, cheer each other on, and try our best.  Here are some pictures of our classroom. I look forward to seeing everyone in Room 9 on Tuesday, August 30th, from
8:00 - 9:00 a.m. for our informal Open House. The first full day of second grade is Wednesday, August 31st!  YEAH!!

Another Year Done

We had a fabulous year and I will truly miss this class! Each student has such a kind and caring heart. We've worked hard and learned a lot! Here is a picture of my crew "graduating" to third grade.  Have a fabulous summer and please come back and visit!

Village Scoop Summer Celebration!

We walked to the Village Scoop ice cream shop today to celebrate the end of a fabulous school year!

Tomorrow afternoon, June 1st, I will be taking the kids in my class to the Village Scoop to celebrate the end of a great school year! We will walk there and back after lunch.  This is my treat for all of the hard work and dedication that the students in this room have shown throughout the year!

UMS Author Visit - Tracey Campbell Pearson

We were fortunate to have Tracey Campbell Pearson visit UMS yesterday and share her story of becoming a published author!  She has written many books such as Where Does Joe Go?, Myrtle, The Purple Hat, and my personal favorite, Bob.  Tracey shared her writing process and how real life inspires her stories.  She talked about how many steps it takes to publish a book and she shared how she became interested in becoming an author in the first place.  The kids learned so much and they were amazing audience members!!  Here are some pictures from her presentation!

UMS Fill A Bucket Day

Today was fill a bucket day at UMS! Everyone carries around an invisible bucket that gets filled with love as people are kind and thoughtful. However when someone is being mean or hurtful, it dips from your bucket leaving you sad, angry, or depressed.  We worked hard all day to lift our friends and teachers spirits. We even had real buckets to help remind us of our task today!
