Gingerbread House Celebration!

 

Room 9 has been doing a fabulous job of being safe, being kind, and doing our best that we filled our Champ Band bin AGAIN!!  We celebrated this time by making foam gingerbread houses as a culminating activity to our folktales literacy unit! The students had so much fun and they were super creative! Check out their masterpieces!

UMS State Sponsored Snow Plow

 UMS has sponsored a VT State snow plow and it visited us today!!! We took our picture in front of our sign! Watch out for it this winter!

Conferences are over zoom this fall and they will be held on Monday, November 22nd from 10:30 - 6:60 and Tuesday, November 23rd from 8:00 - noon.  Please sign up for 1 time slot per child.

Pebbles, Sand, and Silt

We have been having so much fun with our science unit on rocks!!  We've learned that our earth is made up of rocks and that rocks can be weathered down into smaller sizes.  Today, we did a hands-on experiment to see if we could sort river rocks using screens.  We found out that the screens with big holes would catch the big rocks, the screen with medium holes would catch the medium rocks, and that sand easily goes through all 3 screens!  Here are some pictures from our lesson!

Super Hero Day

UMS has done a fabulous job of filling our Champ Band bin!!! Today we celebrated with the whole school dressing up like Super Hero's!  Check out Room 9!

 

How Our Brains Help Us with Mrs. McCleary

We've been busy learning about the parts of our brain with Mrs. McCleary.  We've been learning that the different parts of our brain can help us control our emotions.  The students have been really interested in this topic and they've been doing a great job!! Ask your child all about their brain, and how they can calm down and control thier emotions.  Check out pictures from our lesson today! Thanks Mrs. McCleary!!

 

Fall Bingo

We had a fabulous time yesterday playing Fall Bingo!!  The Lozier family bought the game for us all to enjoy!!  We played 4 games and the winners won Halloween cups. (I have enough cups for everyone and we will all earn one by the end of the week.)  Check out the pictures from our fun morning!!

Math Time

 We've been working hard to learn the second grade math routine in Room 9!!! We've been practicing writing numbers the correct way (no backwards Bob's!).  We've looked at repeating  patterns and talked about recognizing different coins. We worked hard today! Check out our hard work!

Our First Celebration

We have had so much fun learning the routines and expectations of Room 9!! Everyone has been safe, kind, and they've all worked so hard!  To celebrate our first full Champ Band bin, the class voted on a pajama day!!  It was a great way to end our first 5 day week!!

Hi Families,

I hope you have had a relaxing and healthy summer!!  Room 9 is getting a new carpet so our classroom isn't ready yet, but I'll work hard to get it put together by August 24th!  Here are some pictures to show you what I have to work with! All About Plants Slideshow

 We have had a great spring learning about the life cycle of plants! We grew brassica plants from seeds in our classroom and had so much fun watching them grow!  Check out everything that we learned in our google slideshows!

                       

 

                        

Class Celebration - Making Airplanes with Mr. Antonicci

We have done a fabulous job of following the school rules of being safe, kind, and doing our best!! To celebrate, we invited Mr. Antonicci in to show us how to make paper airplanes and then we took them outside to fly them!  Check out a picture of our fun!

Conference Time

It's time for conferences again!  Conferences are going to be held over zoom on Tuesday, March 2nd from 10:30 a.m.- 6:30 p.m..  Each child will have one conference slot so please plan accordingly. I will send home a "conference write-up" before february break just like I did in November because report cards won't come home until Friday, March 5th.  Click on the link below to signup for a time.
